Richard C. Willis Makes Donation to 10 Year Old Ghanaian Boy Who is Suffering from an Anorectal Anomaly
In February 2010, Richard C. Willis, CEO of Sankofa International, Inc., donated funds to help 10 year old Kwame Amuzu who is suffering froman Anorectal Anomaly. This is a medical condition which does not allow him to pass stool from his anus but rather through a by-pass by his stomach. According to his mother, this has been his condition since childhood.
A passage was created for him to pass stool temporarily.
Pale looking Kwame Amuzu, who lives with his grandmother in this wooden structure, has no friends. He is usually seen isolated from his friends because of the smell around him.
He barely sleeps at night according to his grandmother and falls sick very frequently.
Doctors at the pediatric surgery unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana said he would need one thousand one hundred Ghana cedis for surgery to create an anus for him and to close the created by-pass on his stomach.
So Kwame Amuzu told his mum to use TV3 Ghana to beg the general public to help raise the money for his treatment. This is where Richard Willis and others came to this boys rescue and provided the funds needed for his operation.
